Sedgwick acquires New Zealand engineering firm

Global loss adjuster Sedgwick has paid an undisclosed amount for Thurlow Consulting Engineers, a privately held New Zealand business that specialises in professional civil and structural engineering services.

Sedgwick says the investment will strengthen its offerings in the country, providing clients with in-house consultancy and solutions in construction and engineering.

“With the acquisition of Thurlow’s portfolio and our talented teams coming together, we will continue to grow our engineering capability,” Sedgwick New Zealand CEO Philip van Zyl said.

“Thurlow is an experienced professional engineering consultancy and highly respected in the market. Both businesses take pride in providing quality and the very best services in the industry, so this is a great opportunity to deliver outstanding results to our clients.”

Thurlow has worked on many civil and structural engineering projects such as road building, infrastructure and municipal engineering, resource consent applications, scientific reporting and project administration.

Ross Thurlow, who founded the business in 1994, says the new owner will “elevate” the firm’s offerings.

“We will continue to work with our loyal clients, backed by Sedgwick’s expanded services and resources, to support their ongoing requirements and deliver on expectations,” he said.
