Rural Affinity re-signs with Great Lakes

Rural Affinity has again teamed up with Great Lakes Australia, signing a five-year agency and claims services agreement with the Munich Re-owned business.

They had a similar arrangement for 11 years until 2017, when the specialist agriculture underwriting agency switched to Talbot Underwriting. AIG-owned Talbot closed its only Australian office in Sydney last July and renewals are now made through its Singapore and London offices.

“Rural Affinity is excited to be reconnecting with Munich Re and Great Lakes,” MD James Hooper told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “Munich Re is one of the most respected brands in the insurance market and this is consistent with Rural Affinity’s ambitions.

“The security provided by partnering with Munich Re on a five-year agreement will provide our broker partners great confidence in Rural Affinity’s service capability into the future.”

Rural Affinity has started quoting new business and the transition of existing policies underwritten by Talbot to Great Lakes.

Last September Munich Re announced a deal to offload “certain portfolios” in Australia from Great Lakes Insurance and subsidiary HSB Engineering Insurance to Enstar.

Munich Re did not respond when contacted by insuranceNEWS.com.au for a business update on Great Lakes Australia.
