Rudd’s man moves to Wesfarmers Insurance

Alister Jordan, the Chief of Staff to former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, has been appointed to a key strategic role at Wesfarmers Insurance.

He will serve as Senior Manager Strategic Projects, reporting to MD Rob Scott.

Mr Jordan, who is 31, stepped down as chief of staff following Mr Rudd’s replacement as PM by Julia Gillard.

In his new Sydney-based role he will work alongside the insurer’s senior management team on key strategic projects in the financial services sector.

He has degrees in political science and international relations as well as a masters in public policy and governance. He is currently an adjunct professor in public policy and governance at Griffith University.

Wesfarmers Insurance has made several changes to its senior management ranks in recent weeks following the departure of Communications Manager Robert Swinton.

Georgie Morell recently joined as GM Corporate Affairs, having held similar positions at Bank of America, Fidelity, BHP and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.

She told insuranceNEWS.com.au her role has an “expanded strategic mandate” and that Mr Jordan’s role is “a very different commercial role [with] no overlap into corporate affairs”.
