R&SA gets airborne
Royal & Sun Alliance has moved into the increasingly competitive local aviation insurance market. The company has entered into a reinsurance agreement with one the world’s leading aerospace insurance specialists, Global Aerospace Underwriting Managers.
Global Aerospace CEO Tony Medniuk says the move will put R&SA Aviation in a strong position in the Australian market. His company has 450 staff and offices worldwide in the USA, Canada, London, Africa and Asia.
“We look forward to bringing the depth of this expertise to a growing portfolio of Australian aviation clients,” Mr Medniuk said.
R&SA Aviation will be based in Melbourne and managed by Brendan Warner, who has spent six years underwriting aviation business in Australia and the Asia-Pacific.
Like most others in the field, R&SA won’t focus on large commercial airlines. It will provide cover for such risks as corporate and business aircraft, private aircraft, helicopters and premises.
