Rothbury Insurance Brokers is continuing its expansion in New Zealand, opening an office in Nelson with experienced broker Phil Thompson at the helm.

The branch will initially be home to four staff, bringing the Steadfast-aligned group’s national tally to more than 260 workers across 18 offices.

MD Roger Abel says the client base is growing by 100 customers a week.

“Growing the team and expanding our presence around the country is part of our growth strategy,” he said.

“Our extensive network of branches means we’re able to work with clients at a local level and gain a better understanding of the everyday challenges they face.”

Rothbury offers risk and insurance advice across personal and commercial lines, and financial planning and life cover through its Lifetime arm.

It is the largest majority New Zealand-owned general insurance brokerage in the country, with more than 40,000 clients.
