Robert Harrison retires from Aon

Aon Australia Pacific non-executive Chairman Robert Harrison has announced his immediate retirement. Aon Asia Pacific Chairman and CEO Bernie Fung steps up to the role as Executive Chairman.

Mr Harrison has worked in the insurance industry for 50 years, 44 of them with Aon and its predecessor companies, and 21 in Australia.

From 2000 until 2003 he lived in London, where he was Deputy Chairman of Aon International and CEO of Aon’s UK retail operations.

In 1997 he led the team that brought together Bain Hogg, Minet and Alexander & Alexander, laying the foundation for what is Aon Australia Pacific.

Mr Harrison has held numerous board and executive positions with Australian insurance industry associations.

In 1995 he was Chairman of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and he was President of the National Insurance Brokers Association from 1992 to 1994. He will remain a director of Aon NZ.
