QBE has appointed Mark Baxter as Chief Risk Officer for Australia and New Zealand.

He takes over from Anna Gould, who becomes Head of Claims Technical and Governance.

Mr Baxter joins from Prudential, where he was CRO for the UK and Europe, based in London. He has extensive risk management experience, having worked previously as the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority’s GM for oversight of banks and insurers.

He was also Commonwealth Bank’s head of operational risk and compliance for premium services.

“His extensive experience will guide us to further strengthen our risk management practices and reinforce a sound risk management culture,” QBE’s Australia and New Zealand CEO Pat Regan said.
