Redundancies follow Suncorp restructure

Suncorp has completed a restructure of its commercial insurance business, confirming some staff will depart the division.

The insurer says “less than 2%” of positions have been made redundant as a result of its strategy to clarify core insurance functions within the unit.

As part of the restructure initiated by Suncorp Commercial Insurance CEO Anthony Day in November, the company has grouped similar functions to remove duplicate roles and gain greater system and process efficiency.

A Suncorp spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au it’s too early to estimate the number of staff affected due to redeployment opportunities available within the wider group.

Mr Day says the new structure “ensures brokers get the best out of our business, with greater clarity around the accountability and responsibility of each function”.
