RACQ in dispute with axed agents

RACQ is facing court action from a number of business agents over the way they were removed from its network.

Some of the affected agencies, which RACQ says “performed a limited insurance function”, argue their businesses were terminated without cause and they were not kept properly informed.

RACQ EGM Advocacy Paul Turner says the changes were “about the ability to keep up with the massive technological changes the average motor car is undergoing – a key challenge for independent mechanics and one we are committed to help them overcome.”

Due to the ongoing court proceedings, he declined to comment further.

An RACQ spokesman told insuranceNEWS.com.au the agents were primarily concerned with membership services and roadside assistance.
