QBE Insurance Group has named Peter Wilson, who brings 40 years’ experience to the role, as a non-executive director to the board. 

Subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant regulatory approvals, Mr Wilson will start the role from September 1. 

Mr Wilson served as CEO of Axis Insurance from 2013 to 2022 and prior to that was President of US Insurance. 

He worked with CNA Insurance for more than 20 years, including as President and COO for CNA Specialty. He also served as Executive Vice President at AIG, where he managed the commercial public D&O business in the US. 

QBE Group Board Chairman Mike Wilkins says Mr Wilson brings an “outstanding career in the insurance industry with extensive experience in both executive and board positions and brings a strong focus on governance, process improvement and collaboration”. 

“He is a known advocate for strong claims management processes and strategic broker relations and his appointment will enhance the insurance expertise of the QBE Board, with a strong background in the United States, United Kingdom and Bermuda.
