QBE expands senior executive team

QBE has expanded its executive team and announced a new role of EGM Claims.

Australian Operations CEO Colin Fagen says organisational design has been a key focus since his appointment in July, and the appointments broaden the focus of the executive team.

He has appointed Tony MacRae as EGM Intermediary Distribution, which includes international brokers, Australian intermediaries, workers’ compensation, CTP and motor trades business units.

Mr MacRae previously led Corporate Partners and Direct.

GM Australian Intermediaries Shaun Standfield and GM Workers’ Compensation Jason Hammond have been promoted to the executive team.

Mr Fagen told insuranceNEWS.com.au the appointments to the executive team recognise that these are the two largest business units, with more than 1000 staff and turnover in excess of $1 billion.

He has appointed Elders Insurance MD Tim Plant as EGM Corporate Partners and Specialty. Mr Plant will also retain his responsibility for Elders Insurance.

George Katsogiannis has been named EGM Claims, a new appointment that raises the previous role of GM Claims to the executive level and which Mr Fagen says “reflects the strategic importance of the claims function”.
