QBE has appointed former IAG MD and CEO Mike Wilkins as a non-executive director, effective tomorrow.

Mr Wilkins led IAG for more than seven years until November last year, and is now on the AMP board.

He has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services, with previous roles including MD and CEO of insurance group Promina – now part of Suncorp – and MD of Tyndall Australia.

QBE Chairman Marty Becker says Mr Wilkins has made an “exceptional” contribution to the insurance industry.

“He has a well-earned reputation for strengthening the fundamentals of the businesses he has led and is highly regarded in the investment and business community,” Mr Becker said.
