QBE appoints new Asia-Pacific chief

David Fried will become QBE’s Asia-Pacific CEO on April 8, replacing Mike Goodwin, who left the group following a reshuffle last year.

Mr Fried, who will be based in Singapore, has a long history in Asia. He most recently served as Allianz’s Asia-Pacific CEO, responsible for life and non-life business across 14 countries.

Before that, he spent 27 years in the region with HSBC.

“QBE aims to significantly boost its presence in the region,” Group CEO John Neal said. “David will be responsible for implementing this new strategy for growth.”

The group has also appointed Jonathan Mogg as Head of Group Risk Management. He previously worked as a risk management expert for Ernst & Young.
