Positive outlook for Suncorp
Suncorp Metway has assured shareholders that it is “marginally positive” about its investment returns on general insurance shareholder funds for the six months to June 2002. That’s welcome news for shareholders contemplating the return in the previous six months. The results will be released on August 29.
According to a Suncorp statement, “poor share market performance” was the cause of the $7 million loss on investment income from shareholders’ funds. It said “strong active investment management and positive returns on other classes (property and cash)” are key to the group’s ability to deliver more positive returns.
