Pop forms Japanese M&A cover partnership
Pop Insurance and Rakuten General Insurance have formed a strategic partnership to serve the Japanese mergers and acquisitions (M&A) insurance market.
Pop is owned by Sydney-based David Rogers and Barcelona-based Killian McDermott.
The company’s subsidiary Fusion M&A, which is supported by Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, will provide capacity, distribution, underwriting and claims management services for the new venture, aiding Japanese group Rakuten’s growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr Rogers, who is a former MD of Ironshore Australia and was previously Berkley Australia’s national manager of corporate and regional head of M&A, says the strategic partnership with Rakuten is a significant step in building an “ecosystem”of partnerships across Asia-Pacific.
