Construction and professional risk specialist Planned Cover has launched the Focus Underwriting agency, with a professional office and medical pack as its first product.

Planned Cover MD Sandra Purser says the move follows feedback from brokers who felt office pack insurance was becoming commoditised and who wanted a more personal service-based approach. She says professional clients also want cover tailored to their needs.

WR Berkley Australia is underwriting the new agency, and Ms Purser told insuranceNEWS.com.au claims will be handled locally.

Planned Cover changed its name from Professional Risk Services last year and launched a strategy of offering more products and expanding beyond its traditional clientele of construction industry businesses.

Most of its clients are SMEs and Ms Purser sees Focus serving that sector, although she says it can cater to larger risks.
