Perils names incoming CEO

Swiss catastrophe data group Perils has announced Swiss Re’s Christoph Oehy as its incoming CEO from November 1.

Mr Oehy has more than 20 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, having served as Swiss Re’s Head of Facultative Property for its UK, Ireland, France, Benelux and Switzerland operations.

He will take over from outgoing CEO Luzi Hitz, who has headed the Perils since its founding in 2009 and will continue to serve as a Senior Adviser to Mr Oehy.

Perils Chairwoman Sibylle Steimen says Mr Ohey is a “highly qualified and capable successor”.

“The Perils board is fully confident that the handover of responsibility will be a very smooth process, ensuring we maintain our excellent relationships with our data providers and clients,” Ms Steimen said.

Perils provides catastrophe data, including reports on industry loss following severe events, as part of its aim to improve insurer understanding of risks.
