Pen picks management line-up

Arthur J Gallagher’s new agency Pen Underwriting has unveiled its management team.

Gallagher’s Australian and UK underwriting agency brands have united under the Pen name, creating a collective identity for Australis Underwriting and SRS.

Paul Lynam, previously CEO of SRS and Australis, is no w CEO of Pen, supported by Chief Underwriting Officer Paul O’Leary, CFO Jean Leighton and COO Brett Phipps – all of whom worked with Mr Lynam at SRS.

Alex Tarantino joins from QBE Canada next month as National Underwriting Manager for long-tail classes including liability, niche liability and professional risks.

Richard Hardy is National Underwriting Manager for short-tail classes including property, transport, construction, accident and health, and prestige property. Frank van Rooy is Underwriting Manager, Care.

Mr Phipps told insuranceNEWS.com.au the integration is progressing well, with Pen now employing more than 80 insurance professionals.

“There is a lot of work to be done with any change like this, but we’re getting there,” he said.

He says the business’ two Melbourne offices have been brought together at one premises, with the two Sydney offices following suit next year.

“That will give us one office in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.”
