Oswald pushes up Suncorp claims
Suncorp Group’s natural hazard claims totalled $537 million in the nine months to March 31, against a fiscal-year allowance of $520 million.
Its largest event was ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald, for which the estimated claims cost grew to $250 million, net of the Queensland home portfolio quota share arrangements and other reinsurance.
Other significant events included Tasmanian bushfires in January and NSW storms and flooding in February, each with an estimated cost of $30 million.
