Online insurer buzzes into homes
IAG-owned The Buzz has extended its product range to include home insurance alongside its initial car insurance offering.
The move into the home market comes a little over a year after IAG established The Buzz to capture a larger slice of the internet-savvy medium-to-high income market.
The Buzz CEO Jacki Johnson says the home policies were developed in response to consumer demand for simplified choice, comprehension and purchase.
“People said they were concerned they have not insured their home for the right amount, mainly because they find buying home insurance confusing,” she said.
“Quite clearly people asked for choice, transparency, and to be able to understand what they’re buying and what it costs them.”
Ms Johnson says the company invited online users of website forum Buzz Exchange to take part in developing the product, with the company receiving more than 1000 ideas from participants over the past 12 months.
New initiatives include a KidsAway extension that includes cover for possessions used by children living in separate premises, as well as landlord cover and optional covers for certain natural or man-made events, including flood.
