OAMPS snaps up UK broker
Acquisition-hungry OAMPS has expanded its UK footprint, acquiring Surrey broker Whichers Boyland and James (WBJ).
UK CEO David Barrett says the purchase of WBJ, which has a broad book of commercial and personal lines, is an important stage in building up OAMPS’ British operations.
“The acquisition… demonstrates Wesfarmers commitment to growing the UK business following its acquisition of OAMPS late last year.”
The WBJ deal follows the important acquisition by Wesfarmers of New Zealand’s second-largest insurance broker, Crombie Lockwood. WBJ has roughly £3 million ($7.14 million) in gross written premiums.
Last month OAMPS purchased Wideland Insurance Brokers, a Queensland regional business based in Toowoomba. The acquisition was the first in Australia by OAMPS under new owner Wesfarmers.
Wesfarmers Insurance Division Managing Director Bob Buckley says the division is committed to expanding in the UK broking sector to complement its presence in the Australian and NZ markets.
