OAMPS picks up another broker
OAMPS Insurance Brokers has added to its local presence with the acquisition of Queensland commercial hospitality specialist MIB Insurance Brokers.
The deal adds to the four acquisitions made by Wesfarmers Insurance Division since it acquired OAMPS and Crombie Lockwood late last year, including two broking firms in the UK and one in NZ.
OAMPS has picked up 19 staff who will continue to work out of MIB premises in South Brisbane.
Previous owner Warren Vause will continue to manage the MIB office in South Brisbane, with the company likely to be rebranded under the OAMPS banner after a transition period.
Wesfarmers Insurance Division spokesman Robert Swinton would not disclose financial terms but told Sunrise Exchange News the deal will complement its existing broking business.
"MIB specialises in the catering industry and hotels which was something that attracted OAMPS," he said. "The company will continue to operate the same way it always has done, with the same people."
At last week's AGM, Wesfarmers MD Richard Goyder told shareholders to expect OAMPS to make more "bolt-on acquisitions" this year.
