OAMPS breaks new ground

Booker International Specialist Insurance Services, one of Australia’s largest underwriting agencies, has been acquired by the OAMPS group. Founder Don Booker will become GM of the Booker division of OAMPS Underwriting Agencies. The other company principals, including Peter Holsgrove, Noel Nosworthy and David Parker, will continue in their current positions.

Mr Booker said the merger with OAMPS will give Booker International the resources and strength it needs to meet the expectations of the market, as well as legislative obligations.

OAMPS Group CEO Tony Robinson said he “will be looking to maximise the use of our available capacity while maintaining a prudent approach to ensure a proper underwriting outcome”.

OAMPS has also announced the appointment of two non-executive directors – Melbourne-based insurance veterans Denis Trafford and Dennis Corbett – to the board of subsidiary company Australian International Insurance.

Yesterday OAMPS announced yet another acquisition, this time Brisbane-based diversified financial services company New Summit Group.
