National Transport Insurance (NTI) has produced an online tool to help simplify obligations under new heavy vehicle road safety laws.

Transport and Logistics Risk Engineer Adam Gibson says the Chain of Responsibility Health Check includes self-assessments, templates and checklists to allow operators to benchmark their performance and take practical steps to improve safety management.

“We’re breaking down what can seem like an overwhelming, complex issue to help businesses see where their compliance gaps are and how to navigate them,” he said.

Chain of responsibility legislation changes took effect this month, excluding WA and the NT.

The changes share safety responsibility across anyone that controls or influences the transportation of goods, and cover areas including fatigue, speed, loads, vehicle standards and maintenance.
