NTI appoints Acting CEO
National Transport Insurance (NTI) Chairman Bob Wagstaffe has announced the appointment of Tony Clark as Acting CEO. He will take up the position on April 30, a few days after current CEO Wayne Patterson departs the company.
Mr Patterson – who built the insurer over seven years – is known as a dynamic and progressive CEO who transformed NTI into the nation’s foremost truck insurer.
Mr Clark joined NTI in 2001 as National Claims Manager, and was most recently GM Insurance Operations. He has 28 years’ insurance experience, including holding senior roles with Fortis, RACV and GIO.
It’s unlikely that Mr Clark’s appointment will be made permanent any time soon, or that his accession to the top job is a foregone conclusion. IAG is co-owner of NTI along with Promina, but with the impending transfer of Promina’s ownership to Suncorp, IAG will have the option to take up 100% ownership of NTI. IAG is therefore likely to make its own decision on leadership.
