NSW’s icare makes medical appointments
Insurance & Care NSW (icare) has hired two experienced medical executives to improve its delivery of healthcare services.
Leon Clark will assume the Chief Medical Adviser role and Christopher Colquhoun becomes Chief Medical Officer.
“Appointing a chief medical officer and adviser to join our team is a first for the NSW workers’ insurance and personal injury system and is a proven method to achieve the best care outcomes in comparable systems across the world,” CEO Vivek Bhatia said.
“icare is focused on putting customers at the heart of everything we do, and delivering world-class medical and healthcare treatments is fundamental for the recovery of injured workers and road users.”
Dr Clark will set the strategic direction and make investment decisions in healthcare and medical services, while Dr Colquhoun will focus on operational excellence and efficiency in icare’s insurance and care schemes.
Dr Clark started his hospital management career in 1991 as medical executive officer at Sydney Adventist Hospital. Other leadership roles include two years as president of the Australian Private Hospitals Association.
Dr Colquhoun was NSW, ACT and Victoria regional medical director at Sonic HealthPlus before joining icare.
icare insures more than 270,000 NSW employers and their 3.3 million employees, and is one of the largest general insurance providers in Australia, with more than $30 billion in assets.
