New underwriting agency opens
New underwriting agency Lawsons Underwriting Australasia officially opened on September 9 with offices in Sydney and Perth after obtaining its financial services licence.
Liability specialist Kevin Corkery is the senior underwriter and director of the NSW start-up agency, having most recently worked as a director of Connect Liability Solutions.
The new business is offering labour force professional liability cover – a packaged liability product that combines several classes of liability cover including professional indemnity, directors’ and officers’, public liability, and employment practices liability within one policy.
Currently the only combined package on the market, the Lawsons product is underwritten by QBE. The company will also gain coverholder status with Lloyd’s syndicate Brit Insurance next month.
