AUB-owned underwriting agency Sura has opened an office in Adelaide to support its growth plans in SA.

Specialist underwriter Michael Holbrook will head the office, which will initially underwrite policies for engineering, construction and machinery breakdown risk.

The office will support Sura Construction, Sura Plant and Equipment and Sura Engineering.

Sura MD Angie Zissis says SA is increasingly important to its business.

“Our new office in Adelaide underlines the clear message we’ve been sending brokers all along,” he said. “We are serious about underwriting specialist industry risks, and we are here for the long term.”

Mr Holbrook, who has 19 years’ experience in the engineering niche, was hired 18 months ago to grow Sura’s regional SA operations. He is also in charge of the NT market.

He will be joined in the new office by underwriter Debra Genovese, who has more than two decades’ experience in underwriting, claims handling and loss adjustment.
