Australian Unity has appointed director Ian Ferres as the new group MD, replacing Mark Sibree who resigned in late May.  

Mr Ferres joined the Australian Unity board as a non-executive director three years ago.

Chairman Alan Castleman said Mr Ferres has “vast managerial experience, gained for the most part at the former National Mutual Group, included 15 years controlling investment management operations, in addition to National Mutual’s operations in banking, societies, finance companies and unit trusts”.

Mr Ferres is also chairman of Treasury Corporation Victoria as well as chairman of Swiss Re Australia’s investment advisory committee.
