New Chartis CEO takes the helm

Noel Condon has been appointed as CEO of Chartis Australia, taking over from new Asia-Pacific President and CEO Chris Townsend.

Mr Condon officially took control of the insurer’s Australian operations today.

A Chartis veteran who worked in the region a decade ago, Mr Condon most recently held a six-year appointment as Country Manager Belgium for AIG/Chartis.

He says he is “looking forward to re-connecting with colleagues and working in one of the most competitive insurance markets in the world”.

US-born Mr Condon joined AIG Ireland as a marine underwriter in 1984. Since then he has held a number of executive positions with the organisation, including Marketing Director of AIA Shanghai, country manager roles in Hungary, NZ and Korea, and Regional VP Accident and Health in Chartis UK/Ireland and Far East.

His predecessor, Chris Townsend, has taken up the post of President and CEO for Chartis in the Asia-Pacific region, whose regional headquarters are based in Singapore

The company confirmed today that Mr Townsend is still based in Sydney and will be for the immediate future, with a move to Singapore possible “in due course”.
