Naming row dents Bob Jane motor venture

Proposed motor insurance start-up Bob Jane Integrity Insurance has stalled.

Last October Melbourne smash repair businessman Tony Murdaca and motor racing identity and former tyre retailer Bob Jane announced their ambitious plan to list the new company on the Australian Securities Exchange by December.

But the plan has reportedly come unstuck over use of Mr Jane’s name. He is the founder of tyre retailer Bob Jane T-Marts, but is no longer associated with the business – which is run by his estranged son Rodney – and has lost the rights to the Bob Jane trademark.

The new business will be renamed Integrity Insurance Australia.

Last year Mr Murdaca, who runs the International Vehicle Integrity Centre, said he and Mr Jane were in talks with a Chinese insurer to take on the new venture’s underwriting risk, plus prospective shareholders.

Mr Murdaca did not respond to insuranceNEWS.com.au requests for an interview.
