Midland embarks on interstate expansion drive

Melbourne-based Midland Insurance Brokers has acquired two NSW brokerages, established a joint venture in WA and bought a broker’s portfolio that will increase its overall base premium to more than $47 million.

The purchase of Nationwide Insurance Brokers and Tenfour Insurance Brokers, both in Castle Hill, will enhance Midland’s capacity to serve the area.

The combined business will trade as Midland Insurance Brokers NSW from March 1, and former Zurich broker business executive Lori Messori has been appointed MD.

The WA venture with Simon Woods of Woods Insurance Brokers will also begin next month. Mr Woods is MD of the venture, which will operate as Woods Midland Insurance Brokers.

Midland also bought Melbourne-based Matt Duckworth Insurance Brokers’ portfolio in December.
