MGA targets NZ expansion

Adelaide-based national broker MGA aims to expand in New Zealand, either by acquisition or by forming joint ventures.

MD Paul George says the group is interested in regional or city brokers.

“It could be someone who wants to grow and needs some capital, and the only way they might be able to do that is with a partner,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

MGA will be able to provide its administration systems, while a broker partner would bring local knowledge to the venture.

Mr George says the company has been looking at New Zealand for some time and recently started advertising to gauge interest in the market.

In recent months MGA has bought brokerages in Victoria and Canberra, growing its branch network to 28 offices across Australia.
