Melbourne broker acquires wine industry specialist
Melbourne-based Midland Insurance Brokers has acquired Longfellows Insurance Brokers, with effect from April 1.
Longfellows, led by George Zaal, specialises in winemaker and winery insurance, but also offers domestic, liability, marine, motor, professional risks and commercial property.
Staff from Longfellow’s Richmond office will move will move across Melbourne to join with Midland’s staff in its Carlton office.
Both companies are members of the Insurance Brokers Network of Australia.
MD Terry Lane told insuranceNEWS.com.au the acquisition is the company’s fourth in its 15-year history, and will help increase Midland’s gross written premium of “over $30 million”.
“It’s a good fit,” he said. “The Longfellows business complements what we’re doing.”
