MCS, not MCS, shutting down
Technical consulting group MCS has moved to scotch reports it was shutting down after a Swedish-owned division of the same name announced the closure of its Australian offices.
Munters, a Swedish company specialising in air treatment and restoration services, announced last week it was closing its moisture control services (MCS) division in Australia.
However, confused clients inundated the NSW-based MCS, a separate company dealing in technical building reports, with calls believing it was shutting shop.
Munters MCS and the Australian group MCS share no business relationship but work in very similar fields.
Munters MCS specialises in property damage prevention and detection while NSW-based MCS conducts building reviews of damages, cause and hazard mitigation.
Munters said in a statement the decision to close its Australian MCS division was “based on a long-term negative trend in financial performance by Munters MCS Australia, and the fact that improvement initiatives during 2009 did not succeed”.
Munters MCS will cease to operate in Australia by June 30.
