McLarens faces ownership change

International loss adjuster McLarens may be the next company in the sector to change ownership, following the sale of Cunningham Lindsey to Sedgwick.

Investment banking group Evercore is working with Atlanta-based McLarens and its private equity investor Altamont Capital Partners on a sale, according to the UK Insurance Insider.

McLarens this year opened an office in Perth, adding to branches in Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. It also has a branch in Wellington, New Zealand.

Regional Director Australasia Martyn Wicht declined to comment when contacted by insuranceNEWS.com.au.

The company returned to the Australian market in 2014, attracted by strong Asia-Pacific growth. McLarens-owned companies were operating in Australia, but not in the general adjusting space.

The McLarens action follows on the acquisition of Canadian international loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsey, which has been bought by Memphis-based Sedgwick.

Sedgwick finalised the deal in April after it was announced last December.
