Marsh’s Leney sees new heights at Everest

US-based Everest Insurance has appointed Scott Leney as Head of Asia Pacific for its International Division.

Mr Leney, presently Marsh Head of Risk Management for Asia and Pacific, starts with the insurer in November. Everest Insurance is part of Everest Re Group, a US-headquartered general and specialty reinsurance underwriter.

He will oversee the insurance division’s business strategy and growing portfolios both in Asia and the Pacific led by Head of Asia Ben Carey and Head of Pacific Christian Colombera.

Based in Sydney, Mr Leney will report to Everest Insurance International co-heads Adam Clifford and Jason Keen.

“Scott’s deep industry and regional expertise, coupled with his strong leadership uniquely positions Everest to meet our clients’ growing needs across Asia Pacific,” Mr Clifford said.

He says Mr Leney’s guidance will enable Everest to “expand on our best-in-class capabilities and product offerings to solve our clients’ most complex challenges”.

For Mr Leney, the move from Marsh ends a 37-year stint at the global broker.

“Scott is admired for his leadership, and part of his great legacy in Marsh is the expertise and client-centric values he has helped build in Marsh colleagues, leaving behind an outstanding team,” a spokesperson told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Mr Leney has held many leadership roles at Marsh. He has served as Marsh Australia CEO, where he led the expanded Australian business during the integration of JLT Australia.

He also served as Marsh Pacific CEO and was a member of the Pacific Executive Committee and the International Executive Committee.
