Marsh closes Honan acquisition
Former Honan Insurance Group CEO Andrew Fluitsma has commenced as Marsh’s Pacific Head of Corporate and Commercial.
His new role was announced Friday after Marsh completed its acquisition of the Melbourne-headquartered broking group, in a deal reportedly worth $700 million. Marsh has so far declined to confirm or deny the figure.
Marsh says Mr Fluitsma will be transitioning into his new role, co-leading the Corporate and Commercial operations in the Pacific region with John Mutton during the integration of the two businesses. Mr Mutton is presently Head of Corporate, Commercial & Affinity Pacific, according to his LinkedIn.
The two businesses have started bringing colleagues together in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia, and aim to complete co-location within the first quarter of next year.
Marsh announced the acquisition in August, coming up with a knockout bid that sealed the deal. PSC Insurance Group was among the interested parties during the bidding process.
Incoming Marsh Pacific President Josh Roach says the two businesses are beginning an “exciting new chapter”.
“It’s about bringing two great businesses together, harnessing their respective strengths, and maximising the possibilities we will be able to achieve together for our clients, colleagues, and communities,” Mr Roach said.
Mr Roach is presently Marsh McLennan CEO in New Zealand, President of Marsh New Zealand and Chairman of Marsh in Fiji. He will start his new role in January, taking over from Nick Harris who will move to a senior role with the company in the UK.
In another key Marsh executive appointment, Scott Eccleston will be Head of Global Placement Pacific from January 1. He is currently Deputy Head of Global Placement and his appointment comes as Head of Placement for Asia Pacific John Donnelly, based in Sydney, relocates to London to commence as Global Head of Placement at the start of next year.
