Loss adjuster Cerno cuts jobs

Cerno says it will make “about two dozen” staff redundant after a tie-up with Stream Group made the loss adjuster’s IT systems more efficient.

“We need to take advantage of the efficiencies and will be correcting the network,” GM Strategy and Innovation Ian Simpson told insuranceNEWS.com.au today.

“This will be across 50 locations, so you don’t need to make too many adjustments to clock up the numbers.”

It would not be wise to carry excess staffing costs, particularly during the quieter time outside catastrophe season, he says.

Staff were told about the changes in an email from CEO Greg Johnson.

Mr Simpson says the company “cares for the wellbeing of all employees” and proper processes will be followed.

Total job cuts over the past three months may be as many as 40, but the figure includes non-replacements, voluntary redundancies and casual staff.

There will be far fewer forced redundancies, Mr Simpson says.
