Lockton Companies Australia has appointed Steve McWhirter to lead an expansion into the energy sector.

Perth-based Mr McWhirter formerly worked at Marsh and was a founding partner in Specialised Broking Associates, which was acquired by Gallagher.

Lockton Australia CEO Paul Marsden says Mr McWhirter has industry experience in Australia, Asia and Europe, and has worked in the WA market for many years.

“Steve’s employment is in a joint venture with our global energy practice group and continues our investment in specialisation and industries where we can add expertise and client value,” he said.

Lockton, which says it is the world’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage, also has offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin.
