LMI launches iPhone application

Risk management group LMI is turning to smartphone applications to help brokers and loss adjusters explain underinsurance to their clients.

LMI’s free iPhone application was launched on the iTunes Store earlier this month, with more than 100 downloads already recorded.

LMI MD Allan Manning told insuranceNEWS.com.au brokers often struggle to explain to clients that some insurance covers would leave them out of pocket if they had to lodge a claim.

He says making the application mobile – it has previously been available on the company’s website – makes it more useful.

“It’s the way of the future,” he said. “Rather than just talk to someone, it gives the broker an advantage to get the message across to the client and show them they are up to date with the latest technology.”

LMI built the application in-house and hopes to release new applications in the future. A similar application for the Blackberry will be available later this month.

The company is also preparing to release podcasts through iTunes explaining terms like underinsurance.
