Lloyd’s underwriters secure $500 million surplus

Lloyd’s underwriters in Australia made an underwriting surplus of $574.67 million last calendar year, according to figures compiled by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).

The market uses a three-year accounting system, and APRA notes last year’s figures are not finalised.

Gross premiums minus claims and expenses were $593.4 million, most of which came from property damage and general liability classes.
