Lloyd’s broker establishes local presence

London-based Lloyd’s broker Bartlett & Company has opened in Sydney to serve its global corporate clients with operations in Australia.

The company previously serviced clients’ Australian interests using local broker JMD Ross as an agent. Now JMD Ross Director Tim Ross has become a director of the new entity, Bartlett Insurance Brokers.

Mr Ross told insuranceNEWS.com.au the two firms will work together, with Bartlett Insurance Brokers acting as a corporate authorised representative of JMD Ross.

“The businesses will run side-by-side and continue sharing commission as we have done in the past,” Mr Ross said.

He says the new arrangement enables Bartlett Group – which has offices in the US, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Uganda and Hong Kong – to “put another dot on the map”.

The initial focus will be on servicing current international clients, rather than building a local client base.

Bartlett & Company was named Broker of the Year at this year’s British Insurance Awards.
