NYSE-listed Ares Management has acquired a minority stake Genworth Mortgage Insurance Australia.

The Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) leader welcomed the investment by Ares “as an indication of the value it sees in Genworth’s business”.

Ares, an investment manager across the credit, private equity and real estate markets, was founded in 1997 and has $US306 billion ($427.7 billion) assets under management.

“Ares Management’s investment groups collaborate to aim to deliver innovative investment solutions and consistent and attractive investment returns for fund investors throughout market cycles,” the business said.

Genworth’s full year results are due on February 25.
