Julie Batch, Jarrod Hill to head new IAG divisions

IAG has appointed Julie Batch to head Direct Insurance Australia while Jarrod Hill will join from Chubb in September to lead the Intermediated Insurance division.

The company said in November it was splitting its Australia Division under a new operating model that aims to provide greater clarity on roles and responsibilities while being more aligned to IAG brands and customer offerings.

Ms Batch begins her new role immediately after acting as Group Executive Intermediated Insurance Australia since November, in addition to leading Strategy & Innovation.

“Julie is an insurance expert with more than 15 years’ experience at IAG leading reinsurance, underwriting, strategy and innovation,” CEO Nick Hawkins said.

“For the past five years’ Julie has helped to simplify and improve the experiences we can provide to our customers, and I’m excited to see that potential deployed within our Direct Insurance business.”

Mr Hill takes on the intermediated division role after being Chubb Australia and New Zealand President for the past three years. Previously he was with Ace Insurance.

“Jarrod is a seasoned commercial insurance executive with a strong background in technical underwriting and brings with him more than 30 years’ experience,” Mr Hawkins said.

IAG also appointed Amanda Whiting as CEO New Zealand, after acting in the Direct Insurance role since November. She will take over from Craig Olsen in August.

Ms Whiting will have accountability for intermediated insurance in Australia until Mr Hill joins, while Mr Olsen will continue to report to Mr Hawkins after August, working on corporate priorities as Group Executive Strategic Projects.
