JLTA names deputy CEO, Barrowman gets Hong Kong post

JLT Australia (JLTA) has appointed Nick Harris as Deputy CEO with immediate effect.

The move coincides with the appointment of specialty division head Andrew Barrowman as CEO of JLT’s Hong Kong division.

JLTA CEO Leo Demer told insuranceNEWS.com.au Mr Harris’ appointment as his deputy brings the Australian division into line with the global broker’s normal operating model.

“Nick has worked for JLT for eight years, most recently as the leader of our enterprise solutions and employee benefits divisions,” he said.

“He has proved himself to be an outstanding leader over the past five years, and I know he will be equally successful in this new role.”

Mr Barrowman will take up the Hong Kong appointment next month. He joined JLTA in July 2010 as GM general insurance after 22 years at Zurich Australia, most recently as head of regional operations.

Mr Demer says Mr Harris’ enterprise solutions division will be merged into the specialty division from January 1 “to create a single business focused on meeting all our clients’ specialist risk needs”.

Mr Harris will lead the enlarged specialty division.
