James Strong takes the NRMA insurance chair
Former Qantas CEO James Strong was elected to the NRMA Insurance board last week, followed by his immediate election as Chairman. He takes the place of interim chairman Rowan Ross, who filled the position after Nick Whitlam resigned in April. Mr Ross will remain as a director, although there will be a reshuffle before the AGM in November.
Well known throughout the business world for his leadership abilities and his strategic vision (and his bow ties), Mr Strong said he looks forward to “improving the business and exploring growth strategies”.
But first he must settle the matter of appointing a permanent CEO – the fifth CEO in seven years. Former SGIO chief and now acting NRMA Insurance CEO Ian Brown is still being tipped as favourite for the top job.
