Insurers tipped to report flatter results
Many of the big insurers will be announcing their financial results over the next few weeks, and the forecast for another year of record profits is looking a little cloudy.
JP Morgan Senior Insurance Analyst Shane Fitzgerald says results for the big local insurers should be reasonable but the costly commercial environment will take its toll on the bottom line.
He says revenue should be flat for the period, but it is a mixed bag as to whether the results will be in line with analysts’ predictions.
“Some of the insurers would have used, or are looking to use, the reserves from last year to balance out their commercial costs.”
Mr Fitzgerald says Promina is tipped to be the biggest winner in this round of announcements, and, as always, there will be plenty of room for improvement.
“Basically there are no big surprises this year.”
