IAG to make cuts at troubled UK business
IAG is restructuring its UK motor underwriting and distribution operations, but has disputed a British insurance media report that up to 185 jobs will be cut.
The restructure at Equity Red Star, the insurer’s personal motor underwriting operation, and Equity Direct, its motor broking business, were reported last week by Post magazine.
An Equity spokesman said Equity “is reviewing its underwriting and distribution operations to ensure they are aligned to its strategic and financial objectives”.
“We are currently in a consultation period and consequently no decisions have yet been made on the final structure.”
Sources at IAG confirmed to insuranceNEWS.com.au that a restructure is under way but say the number of jobs reported to be involved is incorrect.
The restructure comes during a tumultuous time for IAG’s UK business, which injected $365 million into its claims reserves in June last year due to a “significant deterioration” in UK claim experience.
