IAG outlines motor, home repair inspection results

IAG says it conducted 78,865 motor repair quality inspections in the year to last June, overseeing 22% of authorised repairs.

The checks led to 1239 quality issues being logged.

The number of inspections was up by nearly 10,000 on the year before, and the average “repair quality score” was 98%, the insurer says in its 12th Quality Report.

IAG also conducted 2885 property inspections, checking 9% of completed repairs. The total was fewer than the previous year amid more benign weather and education programs to encourage property resilience. There were 137 quality and 38 safety issues logged.

EGM of retail claims Luke Gallagher says research indicates one in 10 NRMA Insurance-covered vehicles will be electric by 2030, and the report details investment in training motor assessors to support these customers.

“To prepare for this surge, we’ve launched our Motor Quality Initiative to make sure our customers, repair partners and the wider motor industry have the latest information at their fingertips,” he said.

IAG also says investments in response innovations such as portable satellite internet have helped it better manage severe weather events.

“It’s our investment in these new technologies that significantly enhances the support we can provide our customers during a distressing time,” Mr Gallagher said.
